ThessCard for Buses

ThessCard is a reloadable plastic card the size of a credit card, which you can reload with various different fare products, depending on your needs. ThessCard is:

Personalized: it bears the owner’s photo and personal information, and is mandatory for those who use long-term fare products (monthly, quarterly, etc.) and those who are entitled to a reduced fare or free travel (students, unemployed, disabled, uniformed services personnel, etc.).

ThessCard for buses is meant for:

All users of Thessaloniki bus lines (city, intercity & special)

Those entitled to a reduced fare or free travel

(Only personalized ThessCard)

Regular users of the bus lines

For storage of long-term fare products (only with the personalized ThessCard)

Those wishing to have the option of flexible tickets on the card (e.g., 10+1 tickets)

(So that they can use the bus lines at any time)

Personalized Card

The personalized ThessCard for buses bears the photo, name and last name of its owner, and contains information about their profile, such as whether they are entitled to a reduced fare or free travel, as well as the time period for which said entitlement applies.

The main advantages of the personalized card for the passenger are:

If lost, stolen or damaged, its owner does not lose the fare remaining at the time they declare its loss, theft or destruction.
It offers flexibility for users of long-term fare products (monthly, quarterly, etc.), because the use of each product starts with the first validation and not at the time of purchase (e.g., the user may buy a monthly pass on March 5 but do the first validation on March 7, and the product will last for 30 days starting from the latter date).
It can be reloaded online through this site or at an Automatic Ticket Vending Machine (ATVM)

The Personalized ThessCard is required for:

Those who want a

30, 90, or 180-day pass

The beneficiaries of reduced fare or free travel

so that their right is certified

For the rest of the passenger categories, the issuance of a personalized ThessCard is optional. Nevertheless, the personalized card is recommended, because the user can recover stored and unused fare/value in case of loss, theft or malfunction of the card.
